Kushner reports Brussels talks on Ukrainian and European security

Kushner says the US discussed security guarantees for Kyiv with Ukraine, NATO and European partners. The next stage is planned talks with Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi.

The United States held discussions in Brussels on November 5, 2026, with representatives of Ukraine, NATO and European partners on security guarantees for Ukraine and a broader European security architecture. Jared Kushner reported the discussions in a post on X dated November 5.

Kushner described the two tracks as interlinked elements of a lasting peace. He characterised the Brussels discussions as productive and substantive and said the US was working intensively with all parties on practical solutions to end the war.

“Our objective is to address the security concerns of all sides through practical, mutually agreed arrangements that reduce the risk of future conflict,” Kushner wrote. The post does not disclose specific terms of the security guarantees or the text of an agreement.

The next stage, he said, would be trilateral peace talks between the US, Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi the following week. Kushner described them as the first discussions in that format since February and said Washington had worked with both sides on proposals for substantive talks. This is a planned meeting, not talks that have already taken place.

Kushner also said Donald Trump had made achieving peace a priority. He described the US task as the detailed work needed to turn that objective into a comprehensive and durable agreement.

Against this backdrop, Trump raised the prospect of a major agreement involving not only Ukraine but potentially all of Europe. According to Ukrainska Pravda, the statement followed his November 5 meeting with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev. The US president disclosed no further details of the possible agreement.
