Ryazan drone attack: ASTRA reports fire at oil refinery
After the overnight attack on November 5, authorities reported industrial fires and power disruptions. The source of an early report about Dyagilevo airfield retracted that account.
Drones attacked Ryazan, Russia, overnight into November 5, 2026. News outlet ASTRA said its open-source analysis of a published video located a fire at the Ryazan oil refinery. In the morning, Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed the attack and fires at industrial facilities, without naming the businesses in the statement carried by media outlets.

An initial report on Anatoly Shariy's Telegram channel tentatively linked the explosions to the area around Dyagilevo airfield. The author subsequently explicitly retracted that account and identified the refinery instead. The early report should therefore not be treated as confirmation of a strike on the airfield; the extent of damage to the refinery itself has yet to be established.
According to ASTRA, a drone alert was issued in the region at about 2 a.m. local time. Residents then reported numerous explosions, air defence activity and drone noise. The outlet located the fire using a video published by Supernova+. Ukrainska Pravda and Ukrinform also reported the refinery fire, citing ASTRA's analysis.

According to ASTRA's account of Malkov's statement, one person was injured. The governor reported damaged power lines and electricity disruptions in parts of Ryazan. Windows were shattered at School No. 58, where classes were cancelled for November 5. Damage to private homes in Ryazan district and a fire in a non-residential building in Rybnovsky district were also reported. Malkov attributed the damage to falling debris.
The Ryazan refinery is part of Rosneft. According to ASTRA and Ukrainska Pravda, it produces petrol, diesel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil and bitumen, as well as fuel for Russia's Defence Ministry.

Separate reports suggested a possible fire at a Wildberries logistics centre near Ryazan. ASTRA said it had not verified a photograph submitted by a reader. A fire at that particular facility therefore remains unconfirmed.
