Kyiv Metro red line restored after voltage fluctuations
The red line stopped on November 5 because of unstable power supplies. Separate restrictions followed during an air raid alert before normal service resumed.
Kyiv Metro resumed red line train services on November 5, 2026, after a temporary suspension caused by significant voltage fluctuations from external power supply centres. Kyiv Metro and the Kyiv City State Administration reported the suspension and subsequent resumption.

The blue and green lines continued operating normally when the red line stopped. After restarting red line trains, the metro operator announced a nine-minute service interval.

The operator warned that sharp voltage fluctuations in the external electricity supply system could cause further temporary suspensions or longer intervals on metro lines. Staff on station platforms provide passengers with operational updates.
Later that day, during an air raid alert, a separate red line service pattern was introduced: towards the centre, trains ran from Akademmistechko to Khreshchatyk; in the opposite direction, from Arsenalna to Akademmistechko. The operator subsequently announced the return of normal service. These restrictions during the alert should not be confused with the earlier power-related suspension.

In its explanation, Kyiv Metro notes that stations also serve as shelters during prolonged alerts. If a platform becomes crowded, a train may finish discharging passengers at the preceding station. Passengers should listen to announcements and follow metro staff instructions.
